Blackfin Chop House & Raw Bar Opens in Hingham

The suburban expansion continues. Chef Anthony Ambrose has set up shop in Hingham, twenty miles and twenty minutes away from his original Back Bay baby, Ambrosia on Huntington. Blackfin Chop House & Raw Bar, as the new restaurant is called, is located in an early 1700’s sea captain’s home, which Ambrose and a team of local craftsmen passionately restored themselves. The menu will offer raw bar selections including local oysters, tiger shrimp, cherrystones, chilled lobster and sashimi balanced by classic steakhouse standards like lamb, pork and poultry straight off the hickory wood fired grill. For the New England Fish Pier section of the menu Ambrose and his chefs will hand-select seasonal fish directly from the docks, allowing for the most direct route from boat, to kitchen, to customer. The three working fireplaces, in concert with the handmade mahogany tables in the bar give Blackfin a down to earth and unpretentious feel. Call 781.740.4000 for reservations.
