Talulla in Cambridge is a family affair. Owned and operated by wife-and-husband team Danielle Ayer and Connor Dennehy and named after their adorable daughter, this Cambridge restaurant feels a little like visiting your friends’ home for dinner—assuming your friends are ridiculously talented in the kitchen. It’s small and intimate and inviting, with a seasonal menu built on relationships with local purveyors and just a few tables so they can build a relationship with their guests, too.

The menu changes daily, depending on what’s available from the local farmers, producers, and purveyors delivering things to the kitchen. They offer a la carte options, as well as a three-course prix fixe menu and a seven-course tasting menu every day, along with optional wine pairings. Preparations focus on freshness, with a number of light, raw options to start the meal and a touch of classical French culinary elements gussying up each entree.

The restaurant is a quiet and cozy date-night destination, with only a dozen tables in the whole place. Family photos, including a number of the eponymous tyke Talulla, line the walls, reinforcing the feeling that you’re a spoiled houseguest rather than a customer. The service is as warm and genuine as the space.

Another homey attribute of Talulla is the lack of an actual bar. A carefully-curated (and pre-batched) cocktail list leans heavily on aperitif-style drinks meant to prepare the palate for food, so be ready for low ABV and high flavor. The wine list, like the menu, focuses on small producers who are telling a story with their product, curated by sommelier and owner Danielle.
