Celebrity chef and restaurateur Jason Santos’ third restaurant, Buttermilk & Bourbon, delivers Southern hospitality to Boston diners by way of a swanky, cozy atmosphere and an innovative American menu. Located on the corner of Dartmouth Street and Commonwealth Avenue, Buttermilk & Bourbon channels all the style and down home charm of New Orleans, transporting guests to the Bayou straight from the heart of the Back Bay.

The menu offers refined American cuisine showcasing Southern classics as well as re-imagined versions of staple dishes. Traditional fare like fried chicken and house made biscuits, BBQ shrimp and oyster chowder get the northeast treatment – carefully and thoughtfully executed with locally-sourced, seasonal ingredients.  An oyster bar will also serve up a variety of local oysters as well as peel & eat shrimp.

Buttermilk and Bourbon’s beverage program features a wide variety of options for imbibing. In addition to an expansive offering of beer, wine, classic cocktails, and signature drinks, Buttermilk and Bourbon will serve up hurricanes-on-tap, large-batch cocktails, and a selection of bourbon-based drinks. There are also frozen hand grenades available at the bar.

The intimate space offers guests several distinct dining areas reminiscent of New Orleans’ iconic neighborhoods – The French Quarter, The Garden District and Bourbon Street. There’s even a Voodoo Lounge that calls up NOLA’s mystical other-worldliness. Rustic elements (brick walls and reclaimed church pews as seats) pair with refined pieces (dramatic chandeliers and red velvet banquettes) for a vibe that’s elegant yet totally unpretentious. Guests can dine on the al fresco patio on warm sunny days, or make a beeline for the reclaimed fireplace when the temperature drops. And of course, the comfortable lounge, with its fully-stocked bar, is the perfect destination whatever the weather.
