Stella’s Restaurant brings grapes, grooves, and good eats to Salem, with an extensive wine list accompanied by New American fare, live music (and dancing!), and craft cocktails. You’ll be equally happy with your nose in a glass nerding out over terroir or slurping oysters and sipping bubbles at the bar. Stella’s makes enjoying wine (or whatever you’re drinking) fun, easy, and unpretentious.
New American means most anything goes, and Stella’s menu doesn’t discriminate. You can have foreign street food for an appetizer and steak for your entree, along with plenty of interesting and international alternatives. The menu isn’t enormous, but between the Hot Starters, Soups & Salads, House Pastas, and A La Carte meat and seafood options, you won’t be starved for options. The Brunch menu offers a variety of Benedicts and comfort-food staples with a few lighter options if you’re just grazing.
Exposed brick and stucco walls coupled with chic black tabletops make Stella’s an elegant setting for your date night or after-work tipple. But don’t be afraid to loosen a button or two—this joint has wine boxes stacked to the (very high) ceiling atop a graffiti mural, and usually has local live music playing in the lounge. Gather around the black marble bar for a glass or three from the wine list, or snag a table on the covered three-season patio to enjoy a little al fresco dining in downtown Salem.
The wine list at Stella’s rolls over 200 bottles deep, so you if you can’t find something you like you might be better off with a beer. Whether you’re an oenophile seeking out a particular rare vintage or a newbie looking to try your first Tempranillo, the extensive selections by both glass and bottle will give you plenty to consider. If you’ve had enough of grape juice for a while, Stella’s full bar offers custom cocktails and both local and international beers on draft and in the bottles, so there’s no excuse to leave thirsty.
