Right on Mass Ave between Harvard Square and Central, Pammy’s blends the flavors and feel of an Italian trattoria with the unstuffy sensibility of New-American dining. With a small menu packed with seasonal flavor and an atmosphere you won’t want to leave, Pammy’s is a go-to neighborhood joint.

Driven by Italian flavors but unconcerned with rules, the menu at Pammy’s is all about what tastes good together. With lots of small starters for sampling alongside a few house-made pastas and a handful of mains, the selections are straightforward and seasonally driven. While most of the items will be things you recognize from other Italian menus you’ve seen, expect to see unexpected ingredients in the mix. If the flavor fits here, it doesn’t matter where it came from.

The drink list, like the food menu, is thoughtful, spare, and straightforward. For starters (or finishers), there is an impressive list of Italian Amari (bittersweet aperitifs and digestifs), alongside a creative list of craft cocktails, reflecting the menu with seasonal ingredients. The wine list is made up exclusively of natural wines from small producers in both the Old World and the New, and the beer, from all over, is crafty and well-curated.

A roaring fire makes Pammy’s feel like the cozy living room of a neighbor insisting that you stay for one more drink. There’s a large, well-worn communal table where you can share a meal with strangers and maybe learn a name or two, or tuck yourself into one of the leather banquettes and huddle over a candlelit table (sans cloth) for a more intimate conversation.
