Josephine in Somerville’s Cambria Hotel is the fourth concept from award-winning chef Michael Scelfo, joining Cambridge-based sister restaurants Alden & Harlow, The Longfellow and Waypoint. Named for his Sicilian grandma Josephine, who is also his earliest culinary influence the space, designed to evoke his own beloved nonna’s kitchen, gives you the full Italian experience – and then some.

The menu focuses heavily on pizza and pasta with an eye on tradition mixed with some of Scelfo’s modern takes. Choose from deep dish pies, thin-crust wood-fired pizzas, or get a signature plate of spaghetti. There are also crisp salads, crispy Supplì (Italian rice balls), and hearty Italian classic main dishes. If you’re popping by for drinks after work, you can grab some small snacks and a classic cocktail or house creation, or have a seat in the dining room for apps and entrees and choose something from the curated wines by the glass or the impressive lineup of Italian wines by the bottle. Martini lovers will also adore the multiple choices of stuffed olives and onions, plus two house martinis on draft.

The dining room is filled with warm light and open space, and decked out with a long, white marble bar with high wood ceilings, Carrara marble, and penny tile floors. There’s plenty of seating inside and out, including an outdoor fire pit and dedicated bar for warmer nights.
