If your South Shore squad is having a hard time choosing between steak and pasta, Davio’s in Braintree might be the tiebreaker you’ve been looking for. Another ship in chef and restaurateur Steve DiFillippo’s Northern Italian Steakhouse armada (see also: Boston, Atlanta, Philly, NYC), Davio’s brings homemade pasta, aged steaks, and fresh seafood to this upscale location in Braintree’s South Shore Plaza.
The menu at Davio’s is like a steakhouse/Italian joint mixtape featuring all the hits from both genres and a couple of things you might not expect from either. The raw bar features a selection of local seafood, and the menu features sections for salads, pastas, Italian classics, homemade pasta, and a section dedicated to Davio’s signature spring rolls. The main event here is the steak, with a selection rivaling that of any American steakhouse, complete with a range of sauces and a la carte sides. Davio’s serves lunch, brunch, dinner, and a bar menu full of snacks and lighter fare, as well as gluten free versions of all menus.
The mood at Davio’s is lively, with high ceilings and an open kitchen creating a warm and convivial atmosphere that offset the the fanciness of the white tablecloths. Hardwood floors, high-backed chairs, and napkins folded into three-dimensional shapes add a touch of elegance to the dining room, but the bustle of the chefs behind the line and the sound of cocktails shaking at the bar give the space a decidedly unstuffy vibe. To keep things even more casual, head to the bar and lounge where you’ll find seasonal cocktails, craft draught beer, and an extensive list of Italian and American wines.
The restaurant has a number of private dining options, with three individual rooms which can be combined to accommodate 125 seated guests and up to 200 for standing receptions. Davio’s in Braintree serves lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. The bar is open daily from lunchtime right through dinner.
