Chef and restaurateur Jason Santos brings his Buttermilk & Bourbon concept to Arsenal Yards, a one-million-square-foot mixed use development in Watertown.
Drawing on the South’s trademark charm, the 160-seat restaurant boasts a vibrant, fun atmosphere as well as an innovative New Orleans-inspired menu of creative, chef-driven Southern fare. Santos, who currently owns and operates Buttermilk & Bourbon in the Back Bay; Citrus & Salt; and B & B Fish, channels his love of New Orleans and all things Southern to transport guests from the suburbs of Boston to the Bayou.
The offers both Southern classics as well as re-imagined versions of staple dishes, mirroring the offerings at Buttermilk & Bourbon’s popular Back Bay location. An oyster bar serves up a variety of local oysters as well as peel & eat shrimp alongside baked oysters and other specialties prepared in its Marra Forni brick oven. The beverage program features a wide variety of traditional and over-the-top options for imbibing. In addition to an expansive offering of beer, wine, classic cocktails, and signature drinks, Buttermilk and Bourbon will serve up hurricanes-on-tap, frozen hand grenades, large-batch cocktails, and a selection of bourbon-based drinks.
Designed by Erica Diskin of Assembly Designs, the space exudes New Orleans fun and charm with a swanky Voodoo Lounge dining area; bright, colorful Garden District-inspired dining area; moody, central bar area; and expansive, four-season patio with a retractable roof. Brick walls covered in murals, a 3D-printed façade of Bourbon Street balconies, tin ceiling tiles, dramatic chandeliers, and red velvet banquettes complete the vibe.
