Farmer’s Market Specials

PAH Creative/OAK Long Bar + Kitchen

Don’t let anyone tell you that farmer’s markets are just for country folks – OAK Long Bar + Kitchen is right across the street from the city’s largest urban market (right in Copley Square) and the team there knows just what to do with all those super fresh goodies. Every Tuesday and Friday through November, chef Zaid Khan takes full advantage of the bounty and you can get in on the fun with a weekly market dinner special or a monthly series of “Marktail” cocktails.

If you’re famished after a stroll through the Back Bay, head to the elegant eatery tucked into the Fairmont Copley Plaza hotel any Friday night in season. Each week OAK’s chef de cuisine, Izzy Mejia Buasier, puts together a special menu of eats made with farm-fresh market ingredients like local striped bass, summer beans, pink celery, and peaches from New Braintree’s Stillman’s Farm.

If it’s a proper cocktail you’re after, each month the talented mixologists behind the bar are spotlighting a different ingredient sourced from the market to keep you refreshed while you support local farmers. Keep an eye on their Instagram for each month’s entry, and get downtown in August to try their classic whiskey smash made with white peaches from Kimball Fruit Farm in Westford, plus Maker’s Mark, Amaro Montenegro and lemon. Snag reservations for OAK here to save a table; bar seating is first-come, first-served. Keep up with the growing season by following the Copley Plaza market on IG, and give the restaurant a call at 617.585.7222 if you have any Qs.
