Fans of Brookline’s Bar ‘Cino, look no further than Watertown Square – the Newport, Rhode Island-based family of restaurants has opened their second local outpost so you can fill the rest of your summer with Italian-inspired eats and refreshing spritzes.
Named for the Italian word for “neighbor,” the casual hang features cozy booths and exposed brick, with indoor and outdoor seating and an expansive bar area. Artwork from Newport-based artist Sue McNally hangs on the walls and the vibe is very comfortable and romantic. Stop in and share an antipasto plate with salumi, cheese, olives, marinated white beans, tomato, grilled bread on the patio, or settle in for dinner with hearty mains like Whole Roasted Branzino, Rigatoni Bolognese, and Chicken Milanese. If you’re looking for a family-style feast there’s a variety of dishes to share with the table, including Tuna Conserva and Antipasti or the A Tavola (for two) including a 16oz New York Strip which allows you to choose a variety of dishes for the table. The star of the show is also their signature Rhode Island–style thin crust grilled pizzas, which are served and cut with scissors, which Rhodies may recognize as a nod to Providence’s Al Forno.
The bar features a lively collection of craft cocktails (both high test and NA), including the Negroni Colada with coconut oil washed Campari, pineapple infused gin, and Bianco Vermouth and a Noperol Spritz (dhos bittersweet & orange, bitters, ginger ale, soda), or select something from the curated list of red, white, rosé and sparkling wines. There’s also a healthy selection of craft beers, including large format bottles to share like Birra Baladin “Wayan” saison (3 ltr.) and Loverbeer “Madamin” Flanders Bruin (1.5 ltr.).
The new Bar ‘Cino is open Monday through Wednesday from 4:00 to 9:30pm, Thursday from 4:00 to 10:00pm, Friday and Saturday from 11:30am to 10:00pm, and Sunday from 11:30am to 9:00pm. They’re open for dinner to start, and will be serving lunches starting Friday, July 21st. There are also plans for brunch in the fall.
