Puritan Oyster Bar Coming to Cambridge in January

Puritan Oyster Co.

Cantabrigians and fans of Puritan and Co. are about to get a whole lot more of chef Will Gilson’s locally-sourced fare to love as Puritan Oyster Bar is set to open in Inman Square in January.

Conveniently located right next to P.&Co. at 1164 Cambridge Street, the new oyster bar will offer a seafood-focused array of local catches, crudos, shareable seafood plates and raw bar bites in an approachable atmosphere akin to those that Gilson fans have come to appreciate at P.&Co. as well as his outposts at Cambridge Crossing, The Lexington, Gepetto and Café Beatrice. There will be six rotating varieties of New England oysters on the half shell, plus plates like Hot Buttered Lobster Toast, Beef and Oyster tartare, Yellowtail Temaki Tacos, Caviar Pie and some of Puritan’s signature dishes like Smoked Bluefish Melts, Lobster Sandwiches, Salt Cod Brandade, and plenty of signature Parker House Rolls.

The new menu will be accompanied by a carefully curated list of wines selected to pair with delicate seafood flavors, plus there will be oyster-friendly cocktails — both individual plus pitcher-sized, which will be called the “Glug Jug” and are perfect for sharing with the entire table.

The intimate space will have just 30 high-top seats including 12 barstools, and features a rustic design with a casual but polished vibe. The room will be connected to P.Co. by a rear hallway, which will allow Gilson and his gang to use the two spaces interchangeably for private events and large parties.

Puritan Oyster Bar plans to be open seven days a week from 5:00 to 10:00pm for dinner and will hold space for walk-ins. Check out more info on the P.&Co. website and follow the new spot on Insta for updates on opening day.
