Pescador Is Open in Kenmore Square

Pescador

The second installment of the Blue Ribbon Restaurants’ triple-threat takeover of Kenmore Square has arrived with the opening of Pescador at 498 Commonwealth Avenue right on the doorstep of the Hotel Commonwealth.

The brand new coastal-inspired grill from restaurateurs and James Beard Award finalists Bruce and Eric Bromberg has sprung to life in the space formerly occupied by Island Creek Oyster Bar, with 195 seats spread throughout the sprawling space. You can find a spot at a communal table, tuck yourself into a cozy banquette, or pull up a stool at either the 18-seat ceviche bar or 30-foot cocktail bar and take a break from the hustle and bustle of Comm Ave. Longtime Blue Ribbon collaborators Guzy Architects designed the room, which is bathed in warm light and shades of blue, pink and orange to give it a relaxed, beach town vibe.

Fish is front and center on the menu, which leans in on New England catches that are prepared in a variety of globally-inspired techniques, from Andalusia to Argentina, aguachile to a la Plancha. Starters like Corn “Ribs” with ancho, cotija, and lime happily cohabitate with portions of Seafood Paella with cockles, lump crab, linguica, and saffron; Spanish Octopus with adobo aioli, salsa verde, and roast tomato; and Lobster & Chorizo Pizza with queso Oaxaca and bechamel sauce. The drinks list boasts more than 70 mezcals and tequilas, which populate the impressive cocktail lineup of classics, specialties, margaritas and palomas — you can even “B.Y.O.P” with your choice of tequila or mezcal and Jarritos flavor (grapefruit, mandarin or lime) for one, three or five people. The wine list is succinct; curated to cover and complement many of the international culinary coastal influences, plus some tried and true classics. And the beer list is an even split between New England locals and endearing imports from Spain, Columbia, Portugal and Peru. Take a peek at the full menus here.

Pescador is open Tuesday through Saturday from 5:00 to 10:00pm for now, with plans to open Sundays in the near future. Check out photos from the new space on their socials (FB and IG) and on the website. You can make a reservation here, or give them a call at 617.532.1050 with specific Qs.
