Yellow Door Coming to Mission Hill

Yellow Door Taqueria

Fans of Yellow Door Taqueria’s Cali-Mex tacos, tamales and taquitos, get ready for even more of the grub you love as a third location is set to open in Mission Hill. The award-winning team of Dropkick Murphys’ frontman Ken Casey, Taniya Nayak (HGTV, Food Network) and her restaurateur husband Brian O’Donnell have teamed up with industry vets Colleen Hagerty and Jarek Mountain on a 2,500 square foot space with seating for 45 in the dining room and bar, and a private dining room with space for up to 20 people — all within an easy walk from the Green and Orange lines.

Expect many of the tried-and-true twists on traditional Mexico City street food that have made Yellow Door’s sister restaurants in Lower Mills and the South End neighborhood staples, mixed with some fun new plates and cocktails like Chili Duck, Scallop Frito and Jackfruit Carnitas tacos, Street Corn Nachos made with crispy corn tortillas, elote, cheddar and cotija cheese, pickled red onions, poblano peppers, fresh avocado and cilantro, and Seasonal Ceviche like ahi tuna with watermelon, cucumber, dressed with mango and habanero and served with housemade corn tortilla chips. The rotating cocktail list will feature a special proprietary margarita to celebrate Mission Hill, plus the house signature draft cocktail, Waking Up in Tijuana — their take on an espresso martini with reposado tequila, coffee liqueur, housemade cinnamon-infused cold brew, vanilla whipped cream and cayenne. With more than 90 varieties of tequila and mezcal behind the bar, expect a lot of innovative margaritas and other riffs.

Nayak has designed each of the Yellow Door restaurants, and she has again brought her expertise to style the newest member of the family. The dining room will feature some of the same beautiful but gritty aesthetic of the sister spots, plus a bit of a coastal feel from a custom mural painted by the Sam Malpass of Bad Way Creative, and colorfully painted walls by local artist Mark Grundig set off with seashell wall sconces and sea salt distressed metal and wood. Take a preview peek of the progress here!

The new Yellow Door will open in late October on Sunday through Thursday from 4:00pm to midnight, and Friday and Saturday from 4:00pm to 1:00am, with lunch and brunch services soon to follow; keep an eye on their socials (FB, IG) and their website for opening day announcements and hours.
