Limani Opens at The Street

Limani

Great news for Chestnut Hill peeps: the new Mediterranean-themed restaurant Limani is now open at The Street. Focusing on flavors from the coastal shores of Greece and Cyprus, this gorgeous, two-floor spot overlooking Hammond Pond (next to Bluemercury) is the third location for the NYC-based group, and the first location in the Boston area.

The space (formerly occupied by Del Frisco’s) has been completely remodeled with a soft, aqua-green palette accented with pearl, ivory, and rich gold tones to evoke a modern take on the Mediterranean coast. The first floor boasts a lovely wine bar featuring stone and wood with a horseshoe-shaped bar and a Venetian Marmorino wall, hand crafted and painted by local artist Mark Grundig. You can pop in for a casual glass of wine and apps like their signature Limani Chips, made with paper thin cut zucchini and eggplant and served with lightly fried Kefalograviera cheese and tzatziki, or make this your first stop before heading upstairs to the main dining room, which is a 7,900 square foot space complete with a lounge area with a second bar featuring teal velvet couches and marble top tables. The upstairs space also includes a private dining room that seats up to 42, as well as a chef’s table which can seat up to 16.

Limani’s coastal-inspired menu dovetails nicely with the fresh seafood Boston does so well. In fact, one of the most fun features of the space is The Fish Table, which is a Limani tradition of a curated display of fresh catches where you can choose a fish to be cooked with your meal. Start with a few apps like Saganaki (pan fried Kefalograviera cheese) or Feta-Wrapped Phyllo served with honey vinaigrette, or pick something from the raw bar. Then move on to mains like Sea Bass, Red Snapper or Fagri for two, plus some sides like Horta (red, white and gold Swiss chard, escarole and spinach) and Greek Fries seasoned with oregano. Their robust wine list features more than 250 bottles, and you can also indulge in a local beer or some specialty cocktails named after Greek mythology. Check out their complete menu online (and below) before you go to plan out your dinner strategy.

Limani is located at 33 Boylston Street, Chestnut Hill, and is open Monday through Thursday from 12:00 to 10:00pm; Friday and Saturday from 12:00 to 11:00pm, and Sunday from 12:00 to 9:00pm. Reservations for lunch and dinner are available via Open Table or by calling the restaurant at 617.545.0000. Visit their website for more info and menus, and follow them on Instagram for updates.
