Eva, Now Open on Newbury St.

If you happened to be strolling through the Back Bay this weekend, you may have noticed Eva is now officially open for business in the space that was once Cafeteria. The gorgeous new Newbury Street destination, brought to you by owner George Aboujaoude, has been quietly setting up its patio and putting its team through its paces – and now they’re ready for you!

Like a lovely urban oasis, the dining room is awash in blues, greens and natural wood tones. The decor brings the outdoors in with hand-woven raffia chandeliers and a unique leaf-like wall covering, while the glorious patio (one of the neighborhood’s biggest) brings the indoor out with charming little two-tops and heaters for those chillier-than-expected spring (or fall) evenings.

The name is derived from the initials of Aboujaoude’s three children, and is also the name of chef Luis Figueroa’s mother so the menu is full of lovingly prepared comfort food like housemade lamb meatballs, braised short rib gnocchi and shrimp diavolo pizza. Figueroa, who previously wowed patrons at the Greek-leaning Committee: OUZERI + BAR in the Seaport, is going for a more modern American vibe with dishes that cover all the most delicious bases (there’s everything from tuna tartare and street corn to burgers and pizzas).

Eva is located at 279A Newbury Street (at the corner of Newbury and Gloucester) and is open seven days a week for both lunch and dinner (starting at 11:00am) with plans to launch weekend brunch in the future. Have a look at the debut dinner menu below and keep an eye on Instagram for updates. Call 617.546.5155 to see if they have a table for you.
