Looking for something new to start 2022? Get over to Brookline Village to check out the Garrison House, the most recent addition to the Hawkeye Hospitality family, which includes neighborhood faves like Five Horses Tavern Somerville and Boston, Elm Street Tap Room in Davis Square and Worden Hall in Southie.
The new spot, perched on Harvard Square in Brookline (not the one in Cambridge), offers an approachable menu of innovative American fare – snackable starters like confit chicken wings, pretzel bites and poutine as well as pizzas, salads, sandwiches and entrees like short ribs, salmon, filet mignon and customizable mac and cheeses.
The bar program features a curated selection of cocktails and a full roster of modern craft brews. Like its Somervillian sister restaurant, Elm Street Tap Room, the Garrison House has an exclusive Mug Club which comes with all manner of perks including your very own numbered mug hanging behind the bar, access to extras from the kitchen and the annual Mug Club party. There’s a fee and a bit of fine print (all of which you can see here) but, more importantly, there are 30 individual, rotating draft lines, as well as 30 bottles and cans to try.
If you head over on the weekend, be sure to make your way downstairs to check out the Village Social Club, their speakeasy-style basement bar and lounge where they’ve got more food and drink as well as live music with expanded entertainment offerings on the horizon (when circumstances allow). Keep an eye on their calendar and their social for upcoming performances and goings-on.
The Garrison House, located at 6 Harvard Square, is open for on-site dining and take-out Monday through Wednesday from 4:00-10:00pm; Thursday and Friday from 4:00-11:00pm, Saturday from 11:30am-11:00pm and Sunday from 11:30am-10:00pm. Take a peek at the menu online here then book a table for a bite (or pick-up take-out, if you prefer) and get to know this new neighborhood hang.
