The generous peeps at Lower Mills Tavern and Yellow Door Taqueria in Dorchester and their sister Yellow Door Taqueria location in the South End are making this a December to remember. To help spread the seasonal magic and holiday cheer through the entire month, they are hosting a toy drive to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester (BGCD) who serve children from more than 4,000 families, ranging from 2-month olds to 18-year-olds.
This year has been exceedingly challenging for countless households and the BGCD has pivoted to continue to support families in need with groceries, diapers, formula, family check-ins, daily virtual programming, mental health support and more. If you can, the restaurant crews are asking for new and fully packaged kids toys and academic tools so everything can be properly cleaned and sanitized before being donated. Just drop the gifts off in the donation boxes inside each location, anytime during hours of operation (and get your dinner to-go while you’re at it).
All the gifts will be distributed in different ways — each BGCD learning hub will host a safe and small holiday party so kids can spend time with Santa and choose the special gift that you gifted. Get into the spirit of the season and help your neighbors in need. Call 857.267.4461 with any Qs.
