Grant Support for Women-Owned Restaurants in MA

Everyone needs a bit of good news these days, and thankfully the Massachusetts Conference for Women announced some great news yesterday. Chef and restaurateur Joanne Chang, of Flour Bakery + Cafe and Myers+Chang, along with the Massachusetts Restaurant Association (MRA), and the Massachusetts Conference for Women proudly announced a new $250,000 initiative to award grants to women-owned restaurants across Massachusetts. Women are disproportionately shouldering the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic due to the mass layoffs in industries that employ women, caregiving responsibilities, and devastating financial hits to women-owned small businesses. Joanne Chang says, “This initiative will allow a number of women in this hard-hit industry to thrive and provide nourishment to their communities.” This initiative aims to help women-owned businesses succeed and thrive during these extremely difficult times.

The Massachusetts Conference for Women will donate $5,000 grants to 50 women-owned Massachusetts restaurants, through an application process organized by the MRA. Restaurants can apply here or online via the MRA website until October 22. Go to the Massachusetts Conference for Women website for more information and to register for the virtual 2020 event on December 10th.
