Snow Day Specials – January 20th 2019

SVITLANA PIMENOV/SHUTTERSTOCK

Don’t spend your snow day at home — the best cure for the blizzard blues is venturing out for food and drink specials at some of your favorite Boston spots. Find pizza, nachos, brunch-for-dinner and more at these open restaurants. Just be sure to give them a call (to be on the safe side) before you pull on your boots and head out.

Burro Bar (both the Brookline & South End locations)
Brookline: 617.277.0427; South End: 617.426.9300
Head to chef-owner Joe Cassinelli’s Mexican kitchen for half-priced nachos all day long. Try them at breakfast with two fried eggs on top, snack on the loaded tortilla chips throughout the afternoon when you get a case of the munchies or order up a plate during the Pats game to keep your mouth distracted (if the game is all-consuming of your mind). Hot cocktail specials — including Mexican hot chocolate & hot toddys — will also be available.

Painted Burro
617.776.0005
If Brookline or the South End are out of your way, stop by Burro Bar’s sister spot in Davis Square. You’ll find the same great deals listed above — their nachos are seriously decked out with guacamole, chorizo, pork charro beans, cabbage & jalapeño slaw, pimpin’ jalapeños, tres quesos, baja cream and chipotle mayo (and at half the price, it’s a no brainer). Warm sippers will also be on special here, too.

Posto
617.625.0600
Save on a slew of pizzas at Posto! The classic Italian pizzeria, enoteca and trattoria is offering up $12 pies — either dine in or take out. Pick from fresh-out-of-the-oven Marinara, Margherita, Pepperoni, Soppressata or Spinach & Mushroom. Want to indulge your sweet tooth? They’ll have boozy tiramisu hot chocolate (although you’ll have to swing by to try it as it’s dine-in only).

Puritan & Company
617.615.6195
Inman Square’s neighborhood hang, Puritan & Company, has a wicked fun tradition anytime Boston sees more than three inches of snow. Drop in for a three-course storm menu that features an appetizer, entrée and dessert for just $35.

Rosebud
617.629.9500
Sunday brunch at Rosebud is a staple for Somervillians, but if the snow slows you down in the morning and you can’t make it to the diner before the end of brunch service (3:00pm), no worries! The kitchen crew will be keeping the spirit of the morning alive, serving a select number of items from the brunch menu during dinner. Come by between 5:00 and 11:00pm for chicken & waffles, biscuits & gravy, the classy chicken, Rosebud burger topped with bacon & egg and plenty of Bloody Marys and mimosas to go around.

Ward 8
617.823.4478
The folks from Ward 8 will be previewing some menu items from their soon-to-be-open sister restaurant, Tony & Elaine’s. Grab a plate of spaghetti & meatballs for $10 a pop (on any day it snows), available at both lunch and dinner.
