Chef Tiffani Faison, of Sweet Cheeks and Tiger Mama fame (and Top Chef, too), is tripling down in the Fenway, opening her third restaurant, Fool’s Errand, on Thursday, August 16th.

The adult snack bar, located at 1377 Boylston Street in between her two other spots, is standing room only and wee – less than 500 square feet! It takes its cues from some of Faison and her wife (and business partner) Kelly Walsh’s favorite European tapas bars with a playful combination of austere and whimsical, relaxed and raucous. Dark gray doors open onto the diminutive dining room where crystal chandeliers hang from the ceiling and the walls are decked out in French country wallpaper. Diners and drinkers can stake out space at the central wooden bar overlooking the open kitchen or snack at the Bolyston Street-facing countertop. There’s a patio, too where guests can convene at a marble high top and take in all the neighborhood action.

The menu, courtesy of Faison and Chef de Cuisine Ellie Roycroft (most recently of Tiger Mama), incorporates top quality ingredients into sections like Fancy Finger Sammies and Croquettes, Bites & Snacks and Ocean Friends, which includes New School Caviar Service (a pot of caviar, a dollop of sour cream and a bag of Lay’s). Daniel Motsinger heads up the beverage program , which highlights classic American cocktails, and a thoughtfully sourced list of wines, fortified wines and apéritifs.
