Fabulous Frozen Cocktails

Summer may be winding down, but that doesn’t mean the temperature is. Boston bartenders have you covered with plenty of ways to beat the heat as long as it lasts (there’s some thought that we may be in for an extended summer season). Make the best of your final sunny days at any of the relaxing spots below.

Novara  Novara gives classic rosé a frosty twist during Boston’s balmy months. They’re offering three frozé cocktails throughout the summer, all with a bit of limoncello as a nod to their Italian roots. The three delicious flavors include original (rosé, limoncello, lemon juice, fresh fruit), black raspberry (add fresh blackberries and framboise to the original) and cucumber (add basil and lime to the original).

Night Market – Warm weather means one thing at Night Market – sake slush season. They’re well known for flavors like the Old Fashioned (sake, smoked brown sugar, sweet vermouth, bitters) and Sichuan Pineapple (peppercorn sake, pineapple, tamarind nectar). But rest assured, plenty of other tasty varieties are available like the Flavor du Jour or the Deadpool, which is served as a total surprise.

Area Four – Area Four gives out tropical vibes with their frozen favorite, The Night Rider. The mixed drink features a bunch of rum, banana, blueberry, coco lopez and citrus, making it just as tasty as it is dazzling.

A4Cade – Summer is in full swing, and the team at A4Cade is prepared to combat the heat. Their frozen Matcha Man cocktail made with Yaguara Cachaca, dry curacao, citrus, orgeat and matcha provides the perfect treat for a scorching day.

Temple Bar – Temple Bar mixes adult and childhood summertime favorites (rosé and popsicles) to create the ultimate frozé pop. The icy treats, which come in strawberry or grapefruit, are offered throughout the summer.

The Smoke Shop – The Smoke Shop offers a two-for-one, cocktails and dessert at once, with their Skinny Collins milkshake. The adults-only refreshment incorporates frozen bourbon coffee with George Dickel No. 8, Borghetti and cream.

Lincoln Tavern – Lincoln Tavern is renowned for their booze-infused milkshakes like the Pick Me Up made with espresso, hot fudge, almond caramel, spiced dark rum, coffee ice cream and Bailey’s whipped cream. This chilly cocktail is one of many flavors, which change every week on the Friday Brunch Test Kitchen menu.

Hojoko – If you like piña coladas, head to Hojoko for a refreshing, tropical goody. They concoct their version of the beverage with Plantation Barbados rum, Wray & Nephew Overproof rum, pineapple, coconut and Fluff (getting caught in the rain is optional).

Catalyst  – Cambridge’s Catalyst offers specialty cocktails in honor of summer. Cool down with frosty beverages like the Fox made with Absolut Elyx, Luxardo, cherry and lime.
