Good things are happening in the ovens at Pain D’Avignon—the Cape Cod bakery is bringing to market their first new bread in two years. The whole wheat sourdough joins a family of 59 European-style artisan breads and pastries found at Pain D’Avignon and area markets (like Belmont Market in Wakefield and Whole Foods Market in Newton). The earthy table bread is made with whole wheat flour, filtered water and purified sea salt, and it rests in a muslin-lined French baking basket until it’s ready for diners with a dark, crispy crust and cake-like crumb.
