Borrowing an idea from London’s StreetSmart initiative, Boston restaurants band together this holiday season to participate in Hearth Shares, a program that raises money to house the homeless as winter sets in. More than 30 restaurants including the likes of 51 Lincoln, 80 Thoreau, Aquitaine, Ashmont Grill, The Backroom at Moody’s, Battery Park, Bella Luna, Blue Dragon, Blue Ginger, Brasserie Jo, Cinquecento, Commonwealth, EVOO, Gaslight, L’Andana, The Local Newton, The Merchant, Metropolis Cafe, Mistral, Mooo…, Ostra, Sorellina, South End Buttery, Sycamore,  Tavolo and Teatro will offer guests an opportunity to add a $1 donation to their tab at the end of a meal. All donations go directly to Hearth Shares, Friends of Boston’s Homeless and a handful of local nonprofits working to end homelessness in the city.
