Picks for Pesach

Why is this night different from all other nights? Because of the wealth of restaurants that are pulling out all the stops for your Passover meal. Scroll down to see what spots like Craigie on Main, Lumière, Beacon Hill Bistro and The Met Club have in store for your Seder celebration.

Passover Traditions at Craigie on Main
Tony Maws once again has plans to honor his favorite holiday the Craigie way. On Tuesday, March 26th and Wednesday, March 27th Maws and his crew will once again dig into Baba Hannah’s repertoire to create a menu of new twists on classic Passover recipes. The menu is, as is usually the case at Craigie on Main, dependent on what’s available at the market, but past specials have included lamb shanks, haroseth and of course, matzo ball soup. Tables go quickly, so make sure you call 617.497.5511 if you’d like a reservation.

Lumière’s Freedom Seder
For the third year running, Michael Leviton hosts his delicious take on Passover with a Freedom Seder. On both Monday, March 25th and Tuesday the 26th, Rabbi Lev Ba’esh will lead diners in a casual interfaith Seder program complete with live music (this ain’t your parents’ Seder). The family-style menu will consist of dishes inspired by Leviton’s three favorite Jewish cooks – Joyce Goldstein, Joan Nathan and his mom – and will be filled with unleavened goodness. Each night will have a 6:00pm seating of the $125 meal (half-price for kids) which includes food, wine and gratuity in addition to the program and lots of matzoh fresh from Area Four’s wood burning ovens. Get your reservations now by calling Lumière at 617.244.9199 after 2:30pm.

Passover on Beacon Hill
Celebrate Passover at Beacon Hill Bistro this year with a special holiday menu from chef Josh Lewin. For $38 per person, guests can enjoy courses like matzo brei, braised beef shot rib with melted red cabbage and rice pudding with charoset brittle and herbed figs. The menu will be available on Monday, March 25th and Tuesday, March 26th, from 5:30 to 11:00pm. Call 617.723.7575 to get a table.

Plenty of Passover Possibilities
This year The Metropolitan Club is offering three different ways to celebrate Passover. Fans of the Chestnut Hill restaurant can enjoy a three-course dinner menu ($39) and/ or two-course lunch menu ($15) of classic dishes from Tuesday, March 26th to Monday, April 1st (though lunch is only available through the 30th). Of course if you’d rather enjoy chef Todd Winer’s food from the comfort of your own home, you can choose to have your holiday catered with options like chopped liver, beef brisket and potato kugel on the menu. Orders must be placed by Wednesday, March 20th, in order to be ready for pick up by 4:00pm on Monday the 25th or Tuesday the 26th. Peruse all three menus below and then make your tasty plans.
