Fans of Lamb Unite at Lamb Jam Boston

Fans of lamb came out of the woodwork on Sunday, March 7th to baaask in their love for this other red meat at the first Lamb Jam Boston at the Charles Hotel. Seventeen of the area’s most lamb-tastic chefs cooked their hearts out with one of four cuts of the featured meat while ten local breweries contributed lamb worthy beers to make the afternoon affair one to remember. After an official panel judging, Gregory Griffie of 606 Congress took home the award for best shank dish, Colin Crossland of Gourmet Caterers won for best leg preparation, Ben Knack of Sel de la Terre created the best loin dish and Toby T. Hill of Pain D’Avignon was recognized as having the best shoulder dish. To top off the evening, Jim Solomon of the Fireplace was crowned best in show as decided by the over 400 attendees who voted throughout the three hour event. If ewe missed out on the event this time around, you’ll just have to keep your eye out for American lamb to appear on the menus of Boston restaurants – if yesterday’s deliciousness is any indication, you probably won’t have to wait long.
