Deja Lulu – Jazz & A New Lounge Menu at Icarus

Channeling the spirit of Lulu White’s, a long defunct South End nightclub that was the height of urban cool during the ‘60s and ‘70s, chef-owner Chris Douglass adds another night of live jazz and a new lounge menu to the offerings at Icarus. On Thursday nights from 7:00-11:00pm, jazz pianist Keigo Hirakawa headlines with a changing roster of New England Conservatory cohorts. On Friday nights from 7:00-11:00pm, Mark Kross is at the piano with his choice of musical companions – one week (like October 10th) it might be Dave Whitney on trumpet and another week (say, October 24th) it might be Mark Pucci on bass. Though he won’t be picking up an instrument, chef de cuisine Bill Flumerfelt proves himself a worthy accompanist with the unveiling of his eclectic lounge menu with dishes like pork schnitzel with spaetzle, bruléed duck liver pate, and Asian chicken skewers with peanut sauce – all priced at $10 or less.
