Introducing Tavolo

Chef and Dorchester native Chris Douglass’ plans for a Peabody Square pizza-pastaria are progressing quite nicely. Tavolo, the third restaurant from Douglass, who’s also the chef-owner behind the South End’s Icarus and Dorchester’s Ashmont Grill, is set to open during the first week of August. The casual neighborhood joint, just down the street from Ashmont Grill, will serve an Italianate menu of pizzas, paninis and traditional pastas as well as salads, soups and artisinal gelato courtesy of chef de cuisine Max Thompson. Like its sister before it, Tavolo is destined to be a neighborhood favorite, with its dedicated take-out area, a spacious lounge and two clean-lined, brightly-colored dining rooms outfitted with whimsical, pizza-themed cartoons on blackboard walls. A bonus for non-neighborhood folk: it’s also supremely T accessible as it’s right behind the brand spanking new Ashmont station on the Red Line. Call 617.822.1918 for more info about the official opening date and to be one of the first to check it out.
