Waypoint – Wine Director/ FOH Manager

Waypoint is looking for a Wine Director/ FOH Manager to help lead their team. Located just outside of Harvard Square, Waypoint reflects a forward-thinking approach to coastally-inspired fare. In The New York Times, writer Jason Tesauro said Waypoint is, “vibrant enough for a happy hour pop-in, yet intimate enough for after-dark canoodling over caviar and cocktails.”  In January 2017, Boston Magazine awarded Waypoint a three-star review boasting, “with full-bore flavors and opulent ingredients, [Waypoint] gives pristine seafood—and everything else on the menu—the Midas touch.” Yankee Magazine named Waypoint as the top destination for Modern Seafood in the 2017 Best of New England awards and in May 2017, Waypoint was recognized as one of Food and Wine Magazine’s Best New Restaurants of the Year”.

An ideal management candidate will have a genuine love for food, beverage and the industry along with the ability to share that enthusiasm with those around them, guests and staff alike. Strong leadership, organization and communication are key components of the position along with an ability to multi task. General experience should include managing a large and varied staff, training and educational development and a decent understanding of all office related programs or the willingness to quickly learn any that you are unfamiliar with. The most important aspect of the job will be floor management of  a bustling restaurant which requires a keen attention to detail and dining room flow.  An ideal candidate lives for the rush of maintaining a busy and energetic dining room while making guests as happy as possible and going the extra mile. The team is hardworking, mature and dedicated. While they take what they do seriously they’re not pretentious and strive for a fun yet hardworking environment.

Specific requirements of this position would require weekly staff education, list curation, attending trade tastings as a company representative, inventory and ordering. Their list focuses on wines that are stylistically old world while showcasing all regions and varietals. An idea buyer would embrace that aesthetic while also bringing their own energy and vision to the table.
