Thistle & Leek Gastropub is looking to add one Sous Chef to their team in the heart of Newton Centre (a three minute walk from the Green Line and several parking lots).
Thistle & Leek is a cozy destination, inspired by London’s modern gastropubs. It is a casual neighbourhood refuge offering the ideal venue for a midweek celebration, a second date or a drink and a snack on the way home from the office. The menu is composed of small plates with a theme of local seasonality and is inspired by their travels through Europe. The wine list is old world. The cocktails are earnest and straightforward. The hospitality is warm and casual.
Chefs Kate Smith and Trevor Smith have spent decades of line cooking and serious study. Spanish and Italian flavours are seen across their menus, but they also carry the influences that they absorbed cooking with visionaries Eric Ripert of Le Bernardin, Tony Maws of Craigie Street Bistrot, and Micheal Anthony of Gramercy Tavern, and finally running the kitchens of Coppa and Toro with Jamie Bissonnette and Ken Oringer. They take all the technique and knowledge they have from many years working in Michelin starred and James Beard Award winning kitchens and present it in the style of a beautiful neighborhood pub.
They have a small and humble crew looking for a hardworking and passionate person with a desire to learn and work alongside a chef/owner every shift. Health insurance is available for all full time employees.
