Thistle & Leek in Newton Centre is looking to add a FOH Manager to their team in the lead up to another busy spring.
Qualified candidates should be driven to lead a front of house team on a nightly basis and have a passion for food, beverage and hospitality. Candidates must be positive, enthusiastic and empathetic. They must possess the ability to balance being detail oriented while maintaining a casual pub environment in the dining room.
The role will be hands-on and heavily focused on service. You’ll work side-by-side with the General Manager and the Chef/Owners on a nightly basis. Administrative duties include assisting in the hiring, training and scheduling of staff, monthly inventory, planning of events and staff education. Thistle & Leek is a cozy destination, inspired by London’s modern gastropubs. Located in the heart of Newton Centre (a three minute walk from the Green Line and several parking lots), it is a casual neighbourhood refuge. The menu is composed of small plates with a theme of local seasonality and is inspired by the Chef/Owner(s) travels through Europe. The wine list is old world. The cocktails are earnest and straightforward. The hospitality is warm and casual.
Chefs Kate Smith and Trevor Smith have spent decades of line cooking and serious study. Spanish and Italian flavours are seen across their menus, but they also carry the influences that they absorbed cooking with visionaries Eric Ripert of Le Bernardin, Tony Maws of Craigie Street Bistrot, and Micheal Anthony of Gramercy Tavern, and finally running the kitchens of Coppa and Toro with Jamie Bissonnette and Ken Oringer. They take all the technique and knowledge they have from many years working in Michelin starred and James Beard Award winning kitchens and present it in the style of a beautiful neighborhood pub.
