The Roasted Granola – Prep Cook

We are a small community oriented café and granola baking company located in Arlington, MA. We are all about creating a warm and inviting environment for our customers. Our goal is to have everyone who comes into our space feel welcome and valued. All of our offerings are made in house with attention to detail. Every bowl of granola and every cup of coffee is made with intention. We strive to keep each and every one of our customers happy.

We are looking for a highly skilled person to become a permanent member of our kitchen team. The position includes meal preparation as well as management in the overall daily activities. This position gives the right person the opportunity to work in all aspects of meal production. You will learn and prepare our signature dishes with creativity and precision. You will learn to dazzle our customers with great taste, attractive presentation and timely delivery.

The right candidate must be able to follow instructions in preparing and delivering attractively plated meals but also be able to help manage the kitchen. You must be able to move quickly and skillfully around a small kitchen and multi-task with ease. Experience and comfort in using ingredients and cooking techniques is essential.

The job requires a high level of energy and organization. You must be able to work well with other team members while keeping the team motivated and productive. The ideal candidate will have the ability to multi task – it’s a small kitchen with a lot going on. We pride ourselves in maintaining a respectful yet fun kitchen experience.


  • Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
  • Prepare ingredients (chopping and peeling vegetables, preparing sauces etc.)
  • Prepare meals in fast paced kitchen
  • Keep all ingredients prepped and ready to be used
  • Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
  • Check quality of ingredients
  • Prepare dishes with attention to presentation
  • Monitor stock and notify manager when there are shortages


  • Comfortable and familiar with a kitchen environment
  • Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, etc.)
  • Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
  • Ability to work as a team
  • Very good communication skills
  • Excellent physical condition and stamina
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand for long periods and move quickly in a small kitchen

The position is flexible part time but could become full time

Salary: $17.00 – $20.00/hr DOE

Day shift (mornings/afternoons but not evenings)

Weekly day range:
5 days/week: Mon – Fri (as well as one weekend day)

Arlington, MA 02476: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
