The Langham Hotel, Boston – Food and Beverage Manager

The Langham, Boston is one of the city’s most historic hotels and one of the most iconic luxury hotels in the US. You will be leading a passionate & talented Food & Beverage team to drive excellence in guest experience and the overall success of Room Service Departments, by delivering high standards in guest experience & colleague engagement in alignment with the culture and values of Langham Hospitality Group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare daily/weekly payroll and schedule for the Room Service department.
  • Schedule and conduct monthly departmental meetings.
  • Ensure maximum levels of guest service while maintaining Langham standards.
  • Maintain Langham and Massachusetts Health Department standards for sanitation of all food and beverage production areas, including equipment.
  • Act as lead trainer for all Room Service related procedures – motivate and coach.
  • Interview and train new colleagues; conduct annual performance reviews for Room Service colleagues.
  • Participate in development of food and beverage menu items.
  • Handle guest requests/concerns.
  • Communicate with all departments and managers on food service related issues.
  • Additional duties not mentioned above may also be requested by supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality (preferred), minimum 1 year of experience in food & beverage management in a 4-5 star hotel.
  • Make general decisions in the absence of specific directions, e.g. prioritizing workload
  • Perform activities requiring sustained concentration, e.g. designing, planning work.
  • Food Safety: Abide by food safety requirements and ensures that others do so by monitoring FIFO inventory and visually inspecting food prep and delivery activities.
  • Experience with and strong understanding of POS systems.
  • TIPS Certificate preferred
  • Use written (verbal/visual) sources of information, e.g. read reports, procedural documentation, and reference materials.
  • Use verbal auditory sources of information, e.g. interviews, group meetings.
  • Use non-verbal auditory sources of information, e.g. alarms.
  • Stand; Reach; Grasp; Lift/Carry up to 30lbs.; Walk; Kneel; Squat/Bend; Push/Pull
