
Susan Lane Events is a full-service catering and event planning company based in Acton, Massachusetts. We create extraordinary events for discriminating clients. Our events are highly customized and reflect the personality and essence of each client. Founder, Susan Lane, cultivates experiences that integrate exquisite design with craft cocktails, top notch food and service, and award-winning entertainment, photography and floral design vendors. Our clients expect delicious seasonal menus, artfully arranged food displays, and top notch service from kind and respectful staff. The ideal candidate is excited about this opportunity to work our unique events with our clients, and can travel within the Greater Boston and Metro-West area. Our events are year-round, with a heavy concentration during the April-October event season, along with the November-December holiday season.
Event Manager Role:
We are urgently hiring for an Event Manager Role. Our Event Managers are the point person at our events, in the chance that our Event Planners are not present. In the case of a larger event, they will be expected to work together with the Event Planner to lead the waitstaff and kitchen staff in the execution of the task list to ensure a smooth and timely event at our client’s homes.
Responsibilities:
Unload the totes of catered food, event decor, etc, lead the team in setting up food stations according to event planner details, ensure that the event space is presentable and spectacular before guests arrive. Must be comfortable, confident, and cordial when delegating tasks to the waitstaff team. Communicate to kitchen staff throughout the event to make sure the client’s expectations are met.
Qualifications:
Excellent food presentation skills, ability to work independently, and delegate tasks to the team in a timely way to ensure a smooth event that stays on schedule. This person also has a pleasant and friendly demeanor when interacting with homeowners/clients, and clean and tidy work style when using a client’s home kitchen and event space.
TIPS Certification is a plus.
Chef Role:
Our event chefs are responsible for unpacking, reheating, and plating our client’s menu at the event location (sometimes a private home, sometimes a venue or tent). Occasionally, the event requires a lead chef, so the ideal candidate has the ability to both take direction well from the lead chef, or to delegate effectively if assigned to the lead chef role for that particular event.
Responsibilities:
Reheat catered food to proper serving temperature, creatively display food, load and unload catering boxes to/from a client’s home from the catering van, clean the client’s kitchen at the end of the event. Communicate to waitstaff what items are ready to be served and/or displayed.
Qualifications:
Excellent food presentation skills, ability to work independently in the kitchen, and occasionally delegate small tasks, pleasant demeanor when interacting with homeowners/clients, clean and tidy work style when using a client’s home kitchen.
SERVSafe Certification is a plus.
Server Role:
Our servers are responsible for the execution of our events and working as part of our waitstaff team on-site at our client’s homes. This includes unloading the catering van, setting up the food stations, and serving the guests throughout the event. At the end of the event, the team of servers and chefs must clean up the workspace, including washing the equipment and serveware used, and pack up the van.
Responsibilities:
Unload the totes of catered food, event decor, etc, assist in setting up food stations according to event planner details, execute event tasks in a timely way under the direction of the lead server or event planner/manager. Must be willing to work as part of a team, in a fast paced environment. Communicate to kitchen staff throughout the event to make sure the client’s expectations are met.
Qualifications:
Ability to work in a fast paced environment, as part of a team to execute our events for our clients. This person also has a pleasant and friendly demeanor when interacting with homeowners/clients, and clean and tidy work style when using a client’s home kitchen and event space.
TIPS certification is a plus.
