Steel & Rye Restaurant in Lower Mills, Milton is currently seeking energetic professionals to join their growing team as a Sous Chef. The cuisine at Steel & Rye is all about Americana, based on local artisan products prepared in methods rooted in tradition by people that inspire them. In their kitchen you will have the opportunity to work with their in-house pasta program, meet farmers and fisherman as they delivered the day’s catch and work amongst an experienced and professional team. Their menu changes daily based on the season and the bounty of New England. They are accessible by T at the Central Ave stop of the red-line trolley extension and there is also ample accessible parking available to employees.

The position requires great passion for technique and traditional methods of cooking from all of the bounty that New England has to offer. The position has responsibilities such as:

  • Maintaining quality of products
  • Working in conjunction with the chef de cuisine & Executive chef
  • Building teamwork amongst the cooks and chefs
  • Keeping a positive attitude
  • Meat & Fish fabrication
  • Composing a weekly schedule
  • Maintaining consistency in the menu with the kitchen staff

Steel & Rye is an award winning restaurant located on the border of Dorchester and Milton in Lower Mills, MA. They are independently owned and operated by Chef Brendan Joy and Dan Kerrigan. While they are certainly a hub for many Milton residents, they maintain a dynamic and diverse guest demographic from Boston and beyond. Compensation: based on experience ,starting base salary of $43,000 annually.
