
Slate Restaurant at Blair Hill Inn, a Relais & Chateaux property is looking for a creative and detail oriented kitchen team, starting with an Executive Chef, Sous Chef and Line Cook to work with a James Beard award winning consulting chef to deliver an exceptional dining experiences for our guests.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and direct food preparation and culinary activities
- Create daily and weekly menus for breakfast and dinner using fresh ingredients sourced from our garden, area farms and local vendors.
- Estimate food requirements and food/labor costs
- Rectify arising problems or complaints
- Perform administrative duties
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
Skills
- Proven working experience as a chef in a fine dining restaurant
- Excellent record of kitchen management
- Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently
- Capable of delegating multiple tasks
- Communication and leadership skills
- Keep up with cooking trends and best practices
- Degree in Culinary science or related certificate
Job Type: Full-time
Schedule:
- 5 nights a week May – October
- 3 nights a week December – March
- 40-55 covers per night
- Breakfast service daily
Pay: All positions are salaried with 6 weeks paid vacation, plus optional subsidized housing and health care

- 79-acre estate in rural northern Maine overlooking Maine’s largest lake
- 10 room historic Relais & Chateaux Inn & Restaurant – only 1 of 2 in Maine
- Fine dining restaurant serving a 5 course pre fixe to 35-55 covers a night
- Historic cozy kitchen with wood burning grill and all the modern kitchen essentials.
