Rebecca’s Culinary Group – Event Manager, Catering Operations

Rebecca’s Culinary Group is looking for fun, friendly, food-oriented people to join our catering team as Event Managers at our Northeastern University location. Previous food & beverage event management is required. The Event Manager manages on campus catered events by respectfully leading wait and bar staff in room set up with table appointments, food station design, and meeting client expectations. The Event Manager should have an appreciation of food & beverage and the ability to facilitate a team of associates in delivering a high-quality guest experience through excellent service and creative food. MBTA stops are conveniently located via the Green/Orange line and Ruggles Station. Events typically occur during regular business hours of Monday – Friday and closed on major holidays.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet the catering service team at designated on-campus event space
  • Pro-active in reading and understanding the event details to include menu expectations and room set up
  • Lead the service team in set-up, service, and breakdown of an event according to Banquet Event Order (BEO’s)
  • Accountability for equipment rental and product inventory
  • Understands food portions and allergens
  • Understanding of the rules of Banquet Beverage Control and service
  • Ability to set up basic table appointments, action stations, buffets, etc. according to BEO
  • Provide excellent food and beverage service and anticipate guest needs
  • Ensure that all events remain on time according to BEO schedule
  • Familiarity with Event Training Guide and Employee Handbook
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of all items during event
  • Ensure proper use, packing and storage of china and equipment
  • Communicate any challenges or concerns to commissary and act promptly
  • Assist fellow team members as necessary and maintain positive working environment
  • Properly fill out Event Paperwork to include liquor inventory (if applicable), timekeeping of staff hours and any event issues that need to be addressed

  • ServSafe, Choke Saver and TIPS certification a plus

Working Conditions:

Direct contact with guests, clients, and associates. The individual must be able to push and pull items up to 35 pounds. This position will spend 100% of the time moving and standing. Events may take place in a tented venue on campus in summer and fall months and the individual must be comfortable being exposed to heat, cold and noise.

Pay range dependent upon experience: $25.00 – $33.00 per hour
