Lord Hobo Seaport – FOH Positions

Lord Hobo Seaport is Lord Hobo’s newest taproom in the heart of Boston’s Seaport district.

A satellite location of our brewery in Woburn, MA we are known for our world-class, New England-style beers, such as Boomsauce, Juice Lord, and 617. We are looking for talented, hard-working Hobo’s who are passionate about craft beer to join our team.

About Front of House Role(s):
These positions will be a mixed and rotating role with a focus on assisting customers and/or bartenders with general questions, merchandise and to-go beer sales, and bar operations to help generate revenue and keep customers engaged & happy.

Specific roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Bartender/Server Role:

  • Extensive knowledge of the full lineup of our world-class beers and cocktails and being able to explain the uniqueness of each
  • Display professionalism while engaging with customers in positive dialogue to ensure return business
  • Accurately & consistently field questions about Lord Hobo the brewery, the beers, & our philosophy while staying within the brand guidelines
  • Multitask within a fast paced environment while providing a high level of professionalism
  • Anticipate guest needs and proactively upsell including merchandise and beer to go
  • Operate & troubleshoot draft equipment
  • Maintain standard of cleanliness and organization at all times
  • Setup & proper close down at the end of each night. This includes setting up the next shift for success. This includes but not limited to, cleaning and covering the taps faucets, wiping down the bar and tables, cleaning the bathrooms, taking the trash out, and ensuring the building is secure & locked
  • Operate point-of-sale system & cash register
  • Cash management and end of the night reporting including the deposit of all cash sales & tips, & email report to management nightly

Bartender/Server Qualifications/Preferred Experience:

  • TIPS certified
  • Cicerone Certified Beer Server
  • Passion for the craft beer industry & basic knowledge of beer
  • Outgoing and high energy; enjoys high volume of public interaction; positive attitude and strong verbal communication skills
  • Tendency to clean excessively, and remain organized at all times
  • Ability to understand and collaborate effectively with guest’s specific requests
  • Passionate and aware of trends within food and beverage industry
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including holidays, evenings and weekends
  • Ability to lift 50-100 lbs
  • Must be able to stand, walk, lift and bend for long periods of time (8 hrs)
  • Must have reliable transportation

About Support Staff Role: (Host / Barback /Food Runner)
Our Support Staff Role plays an important role in our daily operations by being our “first and last impression”. They set the stage for an exceptional dining experience. They’re responsible for greeting Guests with genuine hospitality and professionalism, accurately quoting wait times, seating Guests in a clean/ sanitary environment all while accommodating their needs.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Retail Cashier / Host
  • Recognize & greet guests at the door and help field initial questions about the flow and operation of the venue
  • Sales of all merchandise, cans, and growlers to go
  • Retain knowledge about the history, philosophy & FAQs of LHBCo
  • Operate point-of-sale system & cash register
  • Restock merchandise & par inventory levels, maintain cleanliness and organization of retail displays
  • Report tips and sales to bartenders at the end of each night
  • Multitask within a fast paced environment while providing a high level of professionalism
  • Operate, maintain, & troubleshoot draft equipment
  • Change kegs & retrieve inventory as needed
  • Collect, wash, and return glassware for service
  • Pre-bus tables on the floor, collecting glassware and trash to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Stock customer service stations
  • Assist bartenders with any needs on the fly
  • Setup & proper close down at the end of each night. This includes mopping the floors, cleaning and covering the taps faucets, wiping down the bar, cleaning the bathrooms, taking the trash out, and ensuring the building is secure & locked
  • Support Staff Qualifications / Preferred Experience:
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time (8-10 hours)
  • Ability to lift 50-100 lbs. Must be able to stand, walk, lift and bend for long periods of time
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including holidays, evenings and weekends
