Ledger – Sous Chef

Ledger Restaurant & Bar in historic Salem, MA is a progressive New England concept with a focus on wood fire cooking led by James Beard Nominated for “Best Chef Northeast”, Chef Daniel Gursha. We are hiring a Sous Chef to work in our open kitchen to grow and help motivate the team for success. This position is geared for someone who is looking to take the next step in their culinary career and learn management skills within our culinary team.

Ledger hires candidates based on attitude as well as a desire to gain experience to take the next step in their careers. We are a hands-on scratch kitchen and are looking for passionate individuals that want to grow and advance within our growing company. You will have access to butchery, charcuterie, wood fire cooking, local produce, pasta making, etc.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in line cooking, maintaining cleanliness and organization, problem solving skills and self-motivation. In addition to staff management and daily operations, this candidate will be required to assist in administrative duties such as scheduling and product orders. This position would work closely with Chef Gursha to maintain Ledger’s high level of execution and consistency for all dining services.

Ledger Restaurant is currently open for dinner 5 days a week, brunch on the weekends, and closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. We are trying to open for Tuesday evenings in the very near future. We offer competitive salary, a 3% rolling sales-based bonus, and a structured environment that promotes a quality
work life balance. Starting pay will be based on experience but will range from $50-$60K.

Sign on Bonus of $500 after 60 days for full time employees.
