Hojoko seeks a Chef de Cuisine to join their award-winning culinary team. Hojoko is a high-energy izakaya in The Verb Hotel in the Fenway Neighborhood.
Chef Tim and Nancy Cushman (o ya, Bianca, gogo ya, Mr. Roni Cups) and their team have developed a unique culture that has developed over years of hard work and commitment. They have a high level of respect and care for each other as well as their guests that join them every night.
As a self-taught chef, Cushman looks for self-motivated, humble, professionals who are eager to learn. He hires individuals who are capable of, and inspired by, delivering high quality, detailed dishes to guests on a nightly basis.
They are looking for a humble, ego-free individual with a genuinely positive attitude and demeanor who is dependable, focused and hospitality-driven. As Chef, you will act as leader and mentor for the heart of house; training and developing the line cooks, prep cooks and dishwashing team. You are responsible for overseeing and executing daily prep, as well as managing food quality and overall costs. This is a great opportunity for candidates with a genuine passion and curiosity for food to grow within a fast-expanding company.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a fast-paced high-volume restaurant, either as chef or an experienced sous chef looking to take the next step in their career. Prior experience with Japanese food is preferred, but not required.
Position is full time, offering competitive starting salary, benefits, and a bonus program. They are open 5 days a week, Tuesday – Saturday.
