We are looking for a Chef de Cuisine and/or a second Sous Chef to join our team.
Dovetail is a small & busy neighborhood bistro with a lot of enthusiastic regulars. We are open for lunch, brunch, dinner and have a retail shop and takeout deli attached to the restaurant. We are a well-organized little machine. We emphasize creativity using the best local ingredients, and maintain positive relationships with local vendors.
We have a great core team of cooks and a strong prep team. We are extremely hands-on and this position will have you working directly with the executive chef/owner and the FOH management/owners. Working on our team is an opportunity to learn much more than the food part of running a kitchen. We get things really dialed in here, and focus on the intangibles of what makes a great restaurant. If you ever want to have your own place, this position will help you acquire the knowledge to run it successfully.

You have to be able to do the work that the job requires but we believe that having a good work/life balance has to be part of the equation and the hours need to be reasonable.
The ideal candidate will need to be clean, organized, have high standards and great attention to detail. We are a team: BOH & FOH all work together. You need to be able to lead by example and lead in an efficient way that does not involve yelling, screaming, diminishing people, etc. If you have to yell at people to get them to do their job, you are not doing it right! We all have job descriptions here and they all end with “and anything else that needs to be done.”
