They’re Democracy Brewing, a bustling worker-owned brewery and scratch kitchen in the heart of Boston. In an industry riddled with bad bosses and poor working conditions, they are here to show that excellence in beer, food, and service can go hand-in-hand with great working conditions, good living wages, excellent teamwork, and shared profits through employee-ownership. They’re currently seeking seeking a motivated, professional, career-minded Sous Chef, or an ambitious, experienced Line Cook eager to grow into a Sous Chef position with some time and coaching.

Their mission at Democracy Brewing is to brew the best beer in Boston and pair it with delicious food, all in combination with two great American ideals: democracy, and owning your own business. After a year of full time employment, you will be eligible for your own ownership share – an opportunity to become a full equal partner in a democratic workplace. Becoming a worker-owner at Democracy Brewing includes equal profit sharing with the other worker-owners, and a vote in big decisions that affect the business.

Applicants should possess a desire to learn about food, beer and worker co-ops. More important than experience is a drive to continuously improve, to put down roots, and to be part of an excellent team for the long-term. Your input, skills, hard work, and attention to detail will play a key role in an organized, efficient and kitchen.
