CRU Nantucket – Sommelier

CRU Restaurant is seeking a professional Sommelier who will be responsible for working with the restaurant owners and with any and all duties related to the management and execution of the wine program. Ideal candidate will have a passion for food, wine and hospitality, along with a wide range of skills and knowledge in front-of-house positions with people management skills.

  • Responsible for assisting in the overseeing and direction of all aspects of wine planning, purchasing and service of the Wine Spectator award-winning wine program at CRU Restaurant as directed. Maintain cellar organization and current wine list daily; update wine information and pricing in POS; participate in conducting and assessing weekly inventory; assist in developing and executing weekly staff wine training; receive and re-stock product along with coding and timely submission of invoices.
  • In addition, will serve as a member of the management team to oversee employee performance in regards to maintaining professional wine service during each shift.


  • 2 years of wine experience in a detail-oriented and driven environment
  • Must be mature, trustworthy and have a team mindset along with independent accountability
  • Have ability to maintain high energy levels and enthusiasm in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Optimism and professional maturity required at all times.
  • Effective understanding of beverage controls, inventory process and cost management procedures
  • Strong Computer Skills/Microsoft Office (Mac, Excel, Word, Email)
  • Understanding of Restaurant Systems (POS – Toast/Reservations – Resy)
  • Ability to repeatedly lift and carry a case of wine (approximately 40 pounds)
  • Must be able to work full-time (including early mornings, late nights, weekends and holidays)
  • Introductory Sommelier Certification through Court of Master Sommeliers or WSET Certification
  • Must be TIPS Certified

Please know that this is a Seasonal Position (June through October). Compensation is based on a shift pay plus tips. Housing may be available.
