Black Lamb – Server

Signing and referral bonuses available! Servers at Black Lamb are tasked with caring for every detail of guest experience in the restaurant, in addition to precise and timely execution of service. They are responsible for familiarity and knowledge of all products behind the bar and in the restaurant. From the moment a guest arrives until they depart, servers are responsible for tending to the guests needs. The technical aspects of service – greeting guests, placing accurate orders, serving beverages, describing the menu – are just a portion of the position. Servers are expected to provide a memorable dining experience through genuine enthusiasm, knowledge and hospitality. Servers report directly to the Service Manager and General Manager.

RELATIONSHIPS:
Teamwork is the foundation of Black Lamb – the entire staff works as a team and while duties are divided, any task should be completed by every member of the restaurant staff. Servers are encouraged to ask for help before you need it, ensuring guests receive the highest level of service. No member of the team should ever feel beyond asking for assistance. Please be aware and respectful of coworkers. Always be ready to help others. Successful servers will cultivate strong relationships with the entire FOH and BOH teams. Servers are expected to be supportive, communicative, professional and focused. Servers will also build and foster relationships with guests to develop regulars, with particular focus on the Tremont Street neighborhood in the South End.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Greeting guests, explain the menu, explain various menu options, offer suggestions and curate a special experience for each guest
  • Communicating with the kitchen to fire food and serve guests in a timely fashion
  • Fostering regular clientele
  • Always aspiring to exceed guest expectations
  • Recognizing repeating guests and remembering their preferences; alerting fellow servers and managers
  • Moving with grace on the floor
  • Mentoring food runners, back server, and baristas; ensuring they feel prepared to succeed in their positions
  • In-depth knowledge of all products behind the bar and in the restaurant
  • Attending meetings with service staff and managers
  • Efficient setup and breakdown of the dining room for daily service
  • Making thoughtful suggestions, tailored to guests, of the food and beverage Black Lamb has to offer
  • Keeping wait stations clean and organized
  • Attending pre-meal meetings before every service
  • Arrive for work on time, dressed and ready for service at appointed call time
  • Preparing for nightly service by ensuring pars are stocked and organized in all service stations
  • Folding napkins, polishing silverware, glassware
  • Complete assigned opening and closing side work
  • Must be able to lift 25lbs and remain standing for 8 hour shifts

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • May be tasked with additional setup for private events
  • May be tasked with a deep clean of the restaurant and storage areas of the restaurant
  • May be required to attend additional educational or procedural meetings
  • May be tasked with additional educational projects
  • May be tasked with hosting stages for new hires
  • May be tasked with training new hires
  • May be tasked with organizing and unpacking deliveries

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

  • Two or more years serving in a casual or fine dining establishment
