What the Fluff? Festival

What the Fluff? Festival

Somerville’s sweetest day of the year — the 17th Annual What The Fluff? Festival — is back on Saturday, September 17th to spread some marshmallowy cheer all around Somerville’s Union Square. Archibald Query invented the gooey goodness in the city in 1917, and to celebrate the square will spring to life from 3:00 to 7:00pm with games, live music, activities, arts and crafts, and contests. The event is presented by Union Square Main Streets and the Somerville Arts Council, and tickets are not required, but plan to head there early so you can stuff all the Fluff action in, like Fluff jousting, Fluff limbo and a marshmallow toss, plus performances by Home Despot, Samba Lolo, MonaVeli and DJ Mixtress.

Jay Lockett of Himalayan Kitchen will emcee all the sticky shenanigans, and be sure to pop into all your favorite restaurants in the square for some Fluff-y fun, like Fluff whoopie pies at Bloc Cafe, Fluff Mango Sticky Rice at Hen Chicken Rice, and “The Great Kerfluffle” Barrel Aged Stout with Vanilla at Remnant Brewing.

Check out the events map below, and get all the info and a list of participating restaurants here. There will also be plenty of adorable merch available featuring this year’s Fluff at First Sight: Back on Track theme logo. Mention the event or tag a photo with @flufffestival on Instagram and be entered to win some Fluff-tastic prizes. Check out the official event socials (Facebook and Instagram) for updates, and plan your Saturday transportation ahead; parking in Union Square is at a premium, and the festival typically attracts more than 20,000 Fluff lovers!
