On Sunday, July 30th, the Best Night of the Year heads to the Chatham home of Helene and Grant Wilson for a festive evening of great food and wine to benefit the Cape & Islands United Way. Guests can enjoy striking views of Nantucket Sound and Monomoy Island while sampling bites from Cape Cod restaurants like the Chatham Wayside Inn, Naked Oyster, Oliver’s, the Barnstable Restaurant & Tavern, Eldredge Room, Campari’s Bistro, Pate’s, the Oyster Company, the Orleans Inn and Golden Clove. The evening’s festivities include a mini auction (bid on a set of gift certificates from all participating restaurants for a gastronomic tour of the Cape or dinner for eight prepared by Naked Oyster chef David Kelly). A private fireworks display is also on the agenda for the evening but hinges on the hatching of the endangered piping plovers, which are nesting nearby. So keep your fingers crossed that they’ll be out of their shells before the end of the month. Tickets for the Best Night of the Year cost $150 per person and sell pretty quickly.
