Sportello’s 10th Anniversary + Truffle Week

Ten years is traditionally celebrated with a tin or aluminum gift, but those things aren’t particularly tasty (or even edible), so Sportello is commemorating a decade in business with white truffles instead. White Alba truffle season is fleeting (just a few weeks in late October/early November), so the coveted fungi can be hard to come by. They’re legit wild (you can’t plant them or predict where they’ll pop up) and truffle hunters in Northern Italy are often supremely protective of (and secretive about) the location of their picking grounds—they have special “truffle dogs” trained to sniff out the wonders.  Lucky for you, you’ll just have to head for Fort Point.

Sportello’s anniversary falls smack-dab during their annual Truffle Week — which runs from Monday, November 5th through Sunday, November 11th — and to honor the occasion(s), chef Barbara Lynch is cooking up a four-course, truffle-laden menu on Tuesday, November 6th for $150 per person. If you can’t make the exclusive dinner, worry not — you can add four grams of the oak-y, hazelnut-y and aromatic shaved white truffles onto any dish throughout the week for $95 or order a bowl of white truffle cacio e pepe for $115. All pricing does not include tax or gratuity. To make a reservation any time from the 5th through the 11th (or for the anniversary dinner on 6th), call 617.737.1234 or book a table online.
