Ruth Reichl at UpStairs on the Square

The ladies of UpStairs on the Square welcome Ruth Reichl, author, former restaurant critic for the New York Times and editor-in-chief of Gourmet magazine to Cambridge on Monday, April 25th. Reichl’s evening starts off at 6:00pm at the Brattle Theater (40 Brattle Street, Harvard Square) where she’ll be reading from her new memoir, Garlic and Sapphires: The Secret Life of a Critic in Disguise. Following the reading, Reichl and fans will head to UpStairs on the Square, where owners Mary-Catherine Deibel and Deborah Hughes will be hosting a wine and hors d’oeuvre reception in the Monday Club Bar starting at 7:30pm. Chefs Susan Regis and Amanda Lydon will be cooking from recipes from the new book, and from her last two highly acclaimed memoirs, Tender at the Bone and Comfort Me with Apples. The reading is free to the public. The wine and hors d’oeuvre reception costs $80 per person, which includes a signed hardcover copy of Garlic and Sapphires.
