Painted Burro is taking paint night to the next level with Margaritas & Masterpieces on Saturday, October 29th. While everyone else is out in the pumpkin patch on Halloween weekend, you can head over to PB’s Somerville location in Davis Square for an afternoon of painting your own sugar skull for Dia de los Muertos.
While spooky season gets all the press around the US, folks in Mexico celebrate Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) on November 1st to honor lost loved ones. It is said that on this day the veil between the living and the dead is lifted, and people often decorate graves and altars with decorated sugar skulls, which represent the sadness of death and the sweetness of life.
Pick up a ticket here for $30, which includes the class, a 6 inch white plaster decorative sugar skull, an assortment of paints and paint brushes, creative inspiration for painting your sugar skull, and a signature Dia De Los Muertos margarita. You’re allowed (and encouraged!) to get as creative as you want, and feel free to bring gems, rhinestones, stickers, photos, glitter or anything else to personalize your creation.
There will be a limited food menu available for purchase while you decorate, and you must be 21+ to attend. Class goes from 3:00 to 5:00pm and you must redeem your ticket by 3:30.
