Opening Day Restaurant Guide

Baseball’s back in season in Boston beginning on Tuesday, April 9th. If you’re looking for the best places to chow down before working your way to the park (or spots where you can be right near the action if you don’t have a pair of the coveted tickets), just take a peek at what local restaurants have in store with special hours, deals and more.

Eventide Fenway

Snag dollar oysters at this fast casual spot, available from first pitch until close. Expect game day specials, and be on the lookout for Eventide Fenway’s new game day takeout package (details soon) — you can bet it’ll include the top-of-the-line seafood fare they’re known for. Chef Ian Maschal and his crew will continue their buck a shuck tradition for every home game this Red Sox season as well.

Fool’s Errand

Don’t want to commit to a full sit-down meal, or even sitting in general? Fool’s Errand is just the spot for you. The standing-only adult snack bar from chef Tiffani Faison is the perfect place to stop for a quick bite before the game. All of the eats are poppable finger foods that will fill you up but won’t weigh you down on your walk to the park. You’ll normally find their doors open at 5:00pm, but they’ll be taking patrons at noon on Opening Day.

Hojoko

No need to wait until 5 o’clock to head to Hojoko — stop by the Japanese izakaya starting at 1:00pm on Tuesday, April 9th for small plates, sushi, sashimi, sandos and more. If you need a tried-and-true dish that you know will hold you over until you can get your hands on a Fenway frank, opt for the ramen.

Sweet Cheeks Q

There’s nothing like a buttload of BBQ right before a big game. Eat your weight in pulled pork, brisket, ribs and other finger-lickin’ meats along with Southern faves like hush puppies and fried okra. Sweet Cheeks Q will be open 11:30am through 10:00pm with their full dinner menu.

Tiger Mama

Who says game day fare is all peanuts and Cracker Jack or Fenway franks? Pop into Tiger Mama starting at 5:00pm for Asian fare like bun cha hanoi (pictured below), Singapore street noodles, hamachi crudo and more.

Rebel’s Guild

The Revere Hotel’s signature spotis serving up a special menu to celebrate the kick-off to baseball season. Taking his cues from the boys of summer, chef Sean Dutson will be serving up game day-inspired bites and bevvies for folks who are on their way to the park or watching the game at the bar. The specials will be available on Opening Day only (starting at 11:00am) in addition to the full Rebel’s Guild menu. Call 617.482.1800 for more info.
