You may have seen Lucky Kitty pop up on Myers + Chang’s Instagram before — the popular Japanese figurine (with a moving arm!) makes many appearances. Now, the itty bitty cat has a tiny piglet friend named Timothée, and the pair are teaming up to co-host a two-day get-together in honor of the Chinese New Year.
On Tuesday, February 5th and Wednesday, February 6th, chef-owner Joanne Chang and her kitchen team will be putting together some special dishes for the party including a Filipino party favorite and one of chef Ashley Lujares’ specialties, Lumpia Shanghai, which is a thin, crunchy egg roll filled with pork, carrots, water chestnuts, jicama + mushrooms and served with a sweet chili sauce; Sticky Rice Balls with Ashley’s XO sauce (both funky and sweet); Pork + Shrimp Szechuan Chili Dumplings with Szechuan black vinegar sauce; and the showstopper: Lobster Longevity Noodles with shrimp, nuac cham and rich, umami crab sauce. There’ll be fun traditions like tangerines set up on the table and little prizes given out in red envelopes plus a few surprises in store.
